I’m usually not one to go to a day party but one thrown by Louis The Child though? Say less. The dynamic duo of Freddy Kennet and Robby Hauldren came through to the Rady Shell with their recently released album, The Sun Comes Up in their back pocket. The album is accompanied by their tour cleverly called A Day In The Sun. The tour is more unique in the fact that it’s played in the daytime compared to the more traditonal evening hours. Making stops in through the west coast with cities such as Seattle, Salt Lake City, and Morrison, the party masquerading as a concert made it’s way to San Diego.

Honestly, the vibes don’t get much better than soaking in the sun while being at a show at The Rady Shell in San Diego. The perfect blend of sunny skies, beautiful ocean water, and the city skyline would be engraved in the mind of anyone lucky enough to be there. All of this with the added bonus of just being at the Rady Shell with its incredible acoustics makes any concert there a must-see event. An endless array of smiling faces came to the venue early to support artists like Daniel Allan, Wavedash (who blew me away), and Whethan (set was so lit). Each artist got the crowd more hyped and truly made this such a wonderful and memorable experience.

Once I got into the venue, I realized how crazy how the show was going to be. You get to the stage, you see how they set it up similar to the Boiler Room with the artists performing in the VIP area, giving fans a 360-degree perspective surrounding the stage. Wavedash and Whethan blew me away with their incredible sets to set the tone for the day. Whethan even brought out Emei for their song that just came out called “Sunny D.” Once Whethan’s set ended, Louis The Child took the stage behind their iconic crown.

With a big sun sitting center stage, it was now officially a Louis The Child day party. The duo have always been known for their bangers but they really back it up with their live performances. Their set curation is S tier, with a great blend of pop-driven vocal tracks being balanced by the more experimental ones. Louis The Child took the crowd on a wild, fun journey through their discography. Not only did we get to hear how the new album sounded live, we got to hear some of their classics too.

They played through a smorgasbord of tracks like “Believe It,” “Supercharger,” and “Make You Mine” from the new album The Sun Comes Up while also sprinkling in some of everyone’s favorites, including “Love Is Alive” and “Better Not.” The vibes were so immaculate, and everywhere I looked, people looked like they were having the time of their lives. Getting to see them in the intimate area where you’re surrounding them with masses of fans was just such a great time.

Daytime shows at the Rady Shell need to be the norm and Louis The Child’s A Day In The Sun extravaganza proved that. In fact, I hope more shows happen during the day and outdoors because I felt like my brain got rewired after experiencing all of this. Seeing both a daytime and Boiler Room-esque type of show really opened my mind to what kind of experiences can be done for a live show and more people need to emulate what Louis The Child did. The uplifting nature of their music paired perfectly with the energy that was happening at the Rady Shell, and I hope more shows similar to this not only happen here but nationally. Louis The Child really changed the game with their new album, the tour, and providing everyone with an experience like this.
