Wonderfront Festival Review
It was the inauguration of the Wonderfront Festival in San Diego this year. The festival, named after the Wonderfront park in Downtown San Diego, had stages across the bay and had acts perform on Nov. 22nd through the 24th. The three day festival had artists with experience of performing locally to globally throughout the weekend. For a first time festival, you’re probably wondering how was it? Did it stack up to the well-known festivals based in San Diego such as KAABOO and CRSSD? With over 55,000 people attending the festival, was it a success or a bust?
While the lineup may not have had as big of artists compared to the bigger festivals in San Diego, the lineup was diverse and fun. When you needed to relax from the constant commotion of the other people, music, and the beating sun, there were numerous options on what you could’ve done. You could relax in the beer garden, listen to vinyl records at the listening station, or even roam outside the festival to explore Downtown San Diego. The festival grounds were kept clean and tidy and hosted lawn games, great views of the bay, and other activities. Overall, it was a fun festival. Being near the water is a major perk and the lineup of artists was great for a festival in it’s first year.
