Sabrina Claudio Concert Review

I was surprised at how large Soma is on the inside because from the exterior, it appears to be a a small store in the center of a shopping strip. I walked in right as Gallant began singing. Immediately I was swept away by his stellar voice. His energy while on stage carried the crowd during his entire performance. As he sang acappella in his magical falsetto, the crowd screamed. He dazzled the ladies, including myself, with “Sweet Insomnia” and “Sleep on It”. The chorus of “Sleep on It” captivated all of my attention, eyes on Gallant and ears wide open to listen to his alluring singing. Gallant’s electric dance moves made the crowd want to boogie as he sang with all his soul. His ecstatic personality retained the attention of everyone at the show. His band perfectly complimented his voice with their talents and positive energy as well. I enjoyed watching his keyboardist and drummer just as much as watching Gallant himself. I was familiar with Gallant prior to this show but hearing him live changed my entire perspective on this artist. His voice is pure magic and it transcends through his live performance. He ended his set by jumping from the top of his chair in sync with the last beat. His vibe was perfect for setting the mood for the next act, Sabrina Claudio.
The crowd waited for her watching the silver gemmed background glimmer in the stage lighting. She appeared on stage with a magnificent spotlight illuminating her and all the jewels on and behind her. Sabrina commanded the room with her sensual self as she began to sing “Rumors”. She is quite the character, turning from a sexy & smooth entertainer to a goofy human talking to her fans in a matter of seconds. I loved that she did both, allowing her personality to really shine throughout the show while also letting her art speak. I stood in awe as her singing “Frozen” from her 2017 album About Time. Her lighting was breathtaking, alternating from a direct spotlight, to yellow & red mood lighting, then to white moving light that resembled a disco ball reflection. Everything was perfect. The San Diego fans were loyal to her and Gallant cheering after every song and begging for more each time. For the show being the final stop of the U.S. tour, the energy was there just as if it were night one. I’ve been jamming to her ever since her show (not that I wasn’t before). If you don’t know who either of these artists are, I highly recommend giving them a listen.
